How to Play Fortune Roulette: Rules, Symbols and a First-Round Walkthrough

Fortune Roulette looks like ordinary European roulette until betting closes, at which point Pragmatic Play's software marks up to eight numbers with a Fortune Multiplier, a Chest symbol or a Bonus Game symbol. What kind of game is Fortune Roulette?

It is a live-dealer European roulette table, 37 pockets numbered 0 to 36, run by a human dealer spinning a physical wheel, with a software feature layered on top. Pragmatic Play Live announced the game on 29 January 2025. Nothing about the wheel or the ball differs from standard roulette; the difference is what happens to the board in the seconds between betting closing and the ball dropping.

Every bet you can place on a normal European table is available here, and the outside bets, red/black, odd/even, high/low, dozens and columns, pay exactly what they would anywhere else. The inside bets, straight up through six line, pay less than standard because a slice of their payout funds the multiplier and Chest features described below.

What symbols appear each round, and what do they mean?

Once the betting clock runs out, the game assigns special symbols to up to eight of the 37 numbers before the wheel turns.

Between one and six numbers receive a Fortune Multiplier, a value up to 540x according to Pragmatic's published rules. One number, always a different one, receives a Chest symbol. One further number receives a Bonus Game symbol. These are drawn fresh every round; nothing carries over from the previous spin.

What happens next depends on where the ball lands relative to those marked numbers:

What does each bet pay?

Inside bets are reduced from standard European odds; outside bets are not. Third-party payout tables (Pragmatic's own page does not publish one) put the figures at:

Read payouts as "to one": a 10 chip on a straight up win with no Fortune Multiplier returns 230 including the stake. The same chip on a number carrying a 60x Fortune Multiplier returns 600. A number hit by the Chest combination could return far more, up to 3,240x on a straight up bet, if several multipliers were active that round.

Why do inside bets pay less than standard roulette?

Because the reduced payout is what funds the Fortune Multiplier and Chest features. Standard European roulette pays 35:1 on a straight up win; Fortune Roulette pays 23:1, a considerably larger cut than similar multiplier games take. In exchange, the same bet has a chance, on any given round, of landing on a number carrying a Fortune Multiplier worth up to 540x, or the Chest, which can combine several multipliers into a single payout.

Since our tracker began on 28 August 2026, a Fortune Multiplier has landed on the winning number 2,606 times out of 20,638 rounds, 12.63%, though most of those paid a modest value: the median was 1.00x and the average 16.04x. What happens during one round, start to finish?

A round in Fortune Roulette runs through five stages.

Betting open. Chips go on the layout while the countdown runs; third-party sources report an 18-second window, though Pragmatic's own page does not confirm a figure.

Betting closed, symbols revealed. The board locks and the reveal sequence marks up to six numbers with Fortune Multipliers, one with the Chest symbol and one with the Bonus Game symbol. This happens after bets are locked, so there is no way to react to which numbers were chosen.

The spin. The dealer releases the ball against the wheel's rotation.

The result. The pocket the ball settles in is the winning number, shown alongside whatever symbol, if any, was on it.

Settlement. Winning chips pay out automatically, based on whether the number was plain, carried a Fortune Multiplier, was the Chest, or was the Bonus Game marker (which sends the round into the separate slots feature instead of settling roulette bets directly on that number). The next betting window then opens.

What rules trip up new players?

A handful of details cause most of the confusion in chat.

The multiplier replaces the base payout, it does not add to it. A straight up chip on a number carrying a 100x Fortune Multiplier pays 100:1, not 123:1.

Only inside bets can collect a Fortune Multiplier or Chest value. An outside bet such as red or black pays its normal 1:1 regardless of which numbers were marked, even if the winning number happened to carry a Fortune Multiplier.

The Chest combines multipliers, it does not guarantee a huge win. If no Fortune Multipliers were drawn that round, landing the Chest number pays nothing extra beyond the standard inside-bet odds.

The Bonus Game pauses the roulette round. Landing that symbol does not pay inside bets directly; it opens a separate 5x3 slots feature with its own free spins and progressive multiplier, up to 9,000x.

Symbols are not hints. They are assigned by software after betting closes and have no influence on where the physical ball lands. The 1-in-37 chance of any single number winning does not change because it happens to be marked.

Does Fortune Roulette play the same on mobile?

Yes, with a rearranged layout. The stream, the wheel, the symbol reveal and the payouts are identical across desktop and mobile; in portrait mode the video sits above the bet grid, with the racetrack (where offered) behind a toggle. There is no separate Pragmatic Play app for the game and no free demo mode, since the table is a shared live stream and every chip is real money.
